Committees
Scotland and Northern Ireland

Who We Are

The Comites are made up of 12 or 18 Councilors elected by adult Italian citizens registered with AIRE and resident in the consular district in which the Comites is established.

Our role

The Comites work to identify and represent the social, cultural, and civil needs of the Italian community, promoting initiatives in the social, cultural, educational, and information sectors.

We promote the integration of Italians in their country of residence, while promoting the Italian language and culture. We collaborate with local and Italian associations, organizations, and institutions throughout the country, providing consultative and advisory services to the Consular Authority, pursuant to Law No. 286 of October 23, 2003.

Sponsorships and collaborations

The Comites of Scotland and Northern Ireland evaluates sponsorship requests for initiatives promoted by associations, bodies, and organizations, and can collaborate on the implementation of projects with third-party entities.

Funding and transparency

For their operations and specific activities, the Comites require contributions from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. All Councilors are volunteers and receive no compensation for their work.
